MY STORY
Why?
By the beginning of 2022, the global pandemic had ravaged my previous business which left me completely broke, overweight, severe mental health issues and on the verge of homelessness.
I tried my level best to revive my former business but ultimately needed to accept that I couldn’t go back, only forward and so I began looking for a new career.
Around this time, I received my first anti-wrinkle treatment and once it fully set after 14 days, I felt like a new person. I felt fresher, younger and bit more like my old self. This small aesthetic change ushered new energy into my life that helped me claw my way out of my depressive state, start taking responsibility for myself and immediately began moving my life forward.
There was an “ah ha!” moment, there must be others out there, just like me, that need a little boost to get them going in the right direction.
That’s when I realised that I wanted to be part of people’s healing journey and my career in aesthetics began.
I took all the money I had left in my bank account and invested it in a top aesthetics training academy in the UK, got my qualifications and insurance and by the summer of 2022, I opened my first clinic in Castleknock before finally settling in Temple Bar where I’m currently located.
I’m beyond grateful to my friends, family and clients that have supported me over the years and I look forward to continuing to serve my community for years to come.
What’s in a name?
The name of “haus” comes from the haute couture houses from fashion…. It’s here where people meet, share, collaborate, create, express and exist - without judgement.
“Slay” is an old word with Germanic roots that’s found in early Old English, but it was generally reserved for killing mythical beasts and vanquishing enemies on the battlefield—GOT style.
Slay spread in the intersectional worlds of gay culture, fashion, and the drag scene. It was heavily featured in 1991 in the influential New York drag documentary Paris Is Burning. When RuPaul’s Drag Race brought drag culture into millions of living rooms starting in 2009, slay got a massive signal boost.
Today it’s more commonly used to congratulate someone on something done outstandingly well.
At Haus of Slay, we combine the idea of design and aesthetic objectives to achieve facial refinement for our clients.
